HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH
LEAD HOUSING ASSISTANCE SPECIALIST: There is an immediate opening for a full-time, non- exempt Lead Housing Assistance Specialist. Under the direct supervision of the HCV Manager, this Lead Specialist performs various complex administrative duties to ensure compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures related to participant files. Also assists in preparing consolidated monthly/quarterly reports on performance based on HUD reporting requirements for all public housing programs and affordable housing programs.
Duties involve: Oversight/supervision of the work and development of Section 8 Housing and Occupancy Specialists; developing/implementing internal programs, policies and procedures for Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) Contracts between landlords and HACMB; prepares and submits statistical and other reports to HVC Supervisor. The Lead Housing Assistance Specialist must also keep abreast of all current Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Authority rules, regulations and policies relative to Section 8 Programs. Must also be able to implement necessary changes in a timely manner and assist to maintain and update the Administrative Plan.
Education and Experience Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or related field and Section 8 Program experience or related fields with at least two (2) years of supervisory experiences, based on HACMB determination which meets the minimum qualifications to competently execute the responsibilities of the job.
Successful candidate must possess considerable organizational skills and multi-tasking experience. Must also be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; be diplomatic and courteous when dealing with the public and be able to successfully handle projects while meeting strict deadlines.
